The Bookmark Project is a student-led nonprofit initiative that collects and donates books to children in hospitals, therapy centers, and underserved communities in the U.S. and abroad.
Sanvi Pandey and Sumedha Rao, two high school seniors from Palatine, IL, who started it in 2021 inspired by their own experience with isolation during COVID-19.
Books go to hospitals, pediatric therapy centers, libraries, schools, and underserved communities — including partner communities in India and Uganda.
We accept new and gently used children's and young adult books in good condition.
You can volunteer at a book packing event, start a book drive, donate books or funds, or reach out about a partnership — see our Volunteer and Donate pages.
Email us at thebookmarkproject101@gmail.com and we'll coordinate a drop-off location and time near you.
